Part 1/7:
The Hidden Dangers of Flood-Damaged Vehicles on Florida Roads
The Aftermath of Hurricane Ian: A Car Graveyard
Three years after Hurricane Ian devastated Florida’s Gulf Coast, the remnants of its destructive surge are still evident—not just in flooded neighborhoods but across the automotive landscape. An estimated 350,000 vehicles were submerged during the storm surge, forming a sprawling car graveyard near Clewiston. If these cars were lined up bumper to bumper, they would stretch over 334 miles—equivalent to stacking more than 1,200 Empire State Buildings vertically. Today, some of these flood-damaged vehicles reappear on the roads, often unbeknownst to their owners or buyers.
