Following the storm, many of these flood-damaged vehicles were auctioned at lots near Clewiston. Carfax estimates that over 350,000 vehicles suffered storm damage just in the aftermath of Ian. Some cars, despite being severely flooded, were repaired and resurfaced on the roads again, often sold to unsuspecting buyers. According to Carfax, Florida currently has over 82,000 flood-damaged vehicles on the road—more than any other state in America. These vehicles often appear deceptively clean and detailed, making it difficult to identify water damage at first glance.
