The journey toward a deterministic, complete theory of nature remains fraught with difficulties. As the speaker admits, we don't yet have the mathematical or conceptual tools to formulate such a theory. But their conviction remains firm: the universe operates deterministically, and the superpositions and probabilities we observe are just shadows of an underlying, definite reality.
This perspective aligns with a classical, realist worldview and challenges many of the foundational principles of quantum mechanics as currently understood. As science progresses, the hope is that new laws and equations will eventually clarify what is fundamentally true about our universe—free from the paradoxes and mysteries that currently confound even the most brilliant minds.
