For instance, Missile, a character in the books, was turned into a lesbian Black woman, significantly altering her relationship with Siri. In the original story, Missile's character is complex and darker, with her relationship with Siri being desperate and abusive, not romanticized or politically motivated.
Poor Production Values and Tone
Production quality has also suffered. Wigs, costumes, and set designs seem cheap and overly sanitized—resembling a poorly funded fantasy series closer to “Spirit Halloween” than a high fantasy epic. The tone is inconsistent, swinging between the gritty vibe of Game of Thrones and the cheesy Saturday afternoon fantasy tropes of earlier 90s TV.
