In January 2025, a joint venture between the Sixers and Comcast Spectacor was announced to build 76th Place—a new, privately financed arena located within the South Philadelphia Sports Complex. This move minimizes displacement, leverages existing infrastructure, and accommodates multiple professional leagues—including the NBA, NHL, and the soon-to-arrive WNBA franchise slated for 2030.
Designed to open in 2031, the phased construction will operate alongside the existing arena, avoiding disruption and ensuring a seamless transition. The project secures financing, naming rights, and features shared suites and media infrastructure, making it a model for smarter, community-conscious sports development.
