Another inspiring example involves Gabe Wittes, an 18-year-old from Washington, D.C. Initially motivated to 3D print masks for his family, Gabe’s efforts quickly gained momentum. Recognizing a critical shortage of personal protective equipment, he launched a campaign on GoFundMe, which astonishingly raised $40,000 in less than a day.
Gabe has mobilized a print farm of 14 3D printers capable of producing up to 150 masks daily. Alongside 11 volunteers, he handles printing, sanitation, and distributing masks to local hospitals and institutions. His story exemplifies how young people can leverage technology and entrepreneurial spirit to address urgent needs, turning personal projects into impactful community service.
