Latest iterations of Shimon have seen remarkable enhancements. The robot can now sing, thanks to a voice synthesis system trained on numerous voice samples. Its expressive capabilities go further—Shimon can adjust head movements, eyebrow expressions, and other gestures based on the music it produces or listens to, conveying a sense of emotional engagement. Lisa, a PhD student working on the project, explains that these movements make Shimon feel less like a machine and more like a "buddy" sharing in the musical experience.
