The Concept of Projection and Distortion of Reality
A core mechanism in narcissistic manipulation is projection. The narcissist superimposes their own conflicted, often thwarted, inner world onto others. This means they attribute their own fantasies, insecurities, and distortions to those around them, creating a false framework of reality that they then enforce on others.
