A powerful metaphor emerges when describing narcissistic influence as a mind virus—a destructive contagion infecting the victim’s mental integrity. To resist this, external influences like supportive relationships—family, friends, mentors—serve as immunity, helping to uphold reality and prevent total dominance by the narcissist’s fantasy.
Isolation is their weapon: cutting off those outside voices creates a psychological environment where the victim’s dependency deepens. As a result, reliance on the narcissist becomes absolute, leading to psychological entrapment and emotional dependency.
