Initially, many might attribute a mother's erratic or volatile behavior to borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, when these behaviors solidify and amplify with age, it often indicates the presence of additional personality disorders, notably narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).
While borderline traits can soften or become less overt over time—sometimes described metaphorically as wearing an "invisibility cloak"—other disorders tend to intensify instead of diminish. Narcissism, for example, does not typically fade; in fact, it often becomes more blatant and ostentatious, especially if the individual also exhibits antisocial tendencies.
