Part 7/11:
Competition Heats Up: Wimo, Zuks, and Market Dynamics
Tesla is not alone in the quest for autonomous ride-hailing dominance. Firms like Wimo have announced expansion plans, including their entry into markets like Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Orlando. Wimo's fleet currently numbers around 2,500 to 3,000 vehicles—still far behind Tesla’s current offerings but poised for rapid growth.
Zuks, owned by Amazon, has begun trials of its robotaxi service in San Francisco, focusing on urban environments due to vehicle safety limitations that prevent highway operation. In contrast, Tesla's vehicles, based on the Model Y and other popular models, are capable of highway driving because they incorporate traditional safety features like crumple zones, allowing broader geographic deployment.
