Enter Zoran Mamdani, the 34-year-old Democratic socialist set to become New York City’s mayor on January 1st. In a move that seems contradictory on its face, Mamdani recently publicly urged New Yorkers to boycott Starbucks stores amid the union-driven "Red Cup Rebellion" strike. His tweet declared, "While workers are on strike, I will not be buying any Starbucks and I’m asking you to join us. Together, we can send a powerful message. No contract, no coffee."
