In recent years, fans have watched as numerous Star Wars projects were announced with great fanfare, only to be quietly derided or abandoned. Studios tempted audiences with big names, new directors, and exciting storylines, but many of these ventures failed to materialize. Projects were often announced with much confidence—such as the Ray movie, which was even teased on stage at Disney Star Wars Celebration by Daisy Ridley and its activist director, Charmino Bay Chinoi, despite the character's mixed reception.
