According to insiders, Kennedy reached out to members of the Academy’s board, advocating for Iger’s recognition, mainly because of his pivotal role in securing major franchises for Disney. The goal was to have Iger join the ranks of Walt Disney and other cinematic legends who’ve received honorary Oscars.
