The Philippines is situated in one of the most typhoon-prone regions on Earth, with over 21 powerful tropical cyclones hitting the country this year alone. Typhoons in the western Pacific often produce sustained winds over 75 miles per hour, causing flooding, infrastructure damage, and loss of life.
This year saw the advent of super typhoon Fung Wong, which struck not only the Philippines but also Taiwan and Japan. The storm left behind scenes of destruction, such as shattered pedestrian bridges and flooded streets, vividly illustrating the severity of these weather events.
