In a surprising move, Disney has announced a new animated series inspired by the "race-swapped" version of Ariel, despite the film's poor box office showing. This series, titled "Aerials," is set to debut on Disney Junior and will serve as a prequel focusing on a young Ariel in Atlantis. The move is reminiscent of the 1992 animated "Little Mermaid" TV series, but this time, the iteration will feature a racial swap and a focus on a much younger Ariel, an eight-year-old.
