Hypocrisy and Contradictions Within Activision
Critics have pointed out the glaring hypocrisy within Activision’s handling of the situation. Prior to canceling Merks, the company included pride insignia in other regional versions of the game, such as removing pride flags in Middle Eastern editions, where such symbols are often politically sensitive or outright banned. This inconsistency has fueled accusations of virtue signaling without genuine commitment to the cause, and some argue it reveals a superficial approach designed solely to garner positive publicity.
