Unfortunately, early box office results indicate the movie is failing to meet expectations. It opened with an estimated $60 million domestically for its opening weekend, which is significantly below initial forecasts that ranged from $81 million up to $111 million. The middle-range estimate of around $95 million would still be a decline from the last Indiana Jones film, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which debuted with over $100 million back in 2008.
