What truly ignited controversy was the subsequent revelation of director Angel Manuel Soto’s outspoken political views. Known for his work on Cobra Kai, Soto expressed strong anti-American sentiments on social media, including disdainful comments about the United States and support for radical leftist causes.
In particular, Soto’s comments about the U.S. being a "slave colony" and his harsh rhetoric about Americans drew outrage from many viewers. More alarmingly, he openly advocated for the assassination of former President Donald Trump, tweeting, “wishing for Donald Trump’s assassination,” and later deleting the post after it drew widespread criticism.
