For Warner Bros. and DC, Shazam 2 represents yet another significant financial setback. The film's reported production budget was around $110 million, with an additional $100 million spent on marketing. Considering the typical revenue split with theaters, the movie would have needed to gross approximately four times its production costs to turn a profit. Unfortunately, it’s clear that Shazam will fall far short of this target, potentially losing hundreds of millions of dollars.
This poor showing comes just months after the failure of Black Adam, which already drained resources and audience goodwill. Given these consecutive disappointments, rumors and industry insiders suggest that DC’s future cinematic projects might face increased scrutiny and restructuring.
