The story deepens with the realization that Miami’s evaluation was flawed from the start. The decision to ignore Herbert and focus on Tua was influenced, at least in part, by the perception of Tua coming from Alabama, a Nick Saban-coached program. This "elite" label contributed to the hype, but in retrospect, it perhaps overshadowed areal assessment of quarterback talent and readiness.
