Yep, it's Saturday again ! Time for my #SaturdaySavers update 😁

Here's my table of progress for the week;
How Did The Week Go ?
The markets are still feeling high levels of uncertainty, and that applies to both crypto and the stock market. Forex is all over the place; most weeks the pound will move up or down a cent against the dollar. This week it's been like sticking your hand in a tombola and seeing what number comes out - it's varied from 1.28 to 1.31, but not in any kind of straight line !
One piece of good news is that HIVE has slowly started to climb back up again. I think it'll be a while before people start really noticing, so it could be a good time to stack some if you've got some fiat you can afford to risk (I haven't...)
Despite all this, I've kept trogging along with Hive. I've managed to post every day, and curated most days although pressure of work has made my curation a bit patchy over the last week or two.
My HP growth is still nowhere near what it ought to be, but I've been saving up some of my HBD rewards and will probably convert it to liquid HIVE just to help me get ready for HPUD at the end of the month.
One thing I've seen is that when the markets all fell, the number of upvotes received in Hive dropped quite a bit. It's a concern that I'm relying quite heavily on what are obviously automated votes. While I appreciate them, it tells me that curation is still not high enough in people's minds as a valid way to grow your HP.
Diminishing rewards is, to my mind, one of the big things that killed Publish0x as a platform. It's still there, I guess, but I haven't visited it for months. The earnings just weren't there, and because it was focused as a single-purpose platform (unlike Hive) once the earning potential was gone, so were many of the best authors.
Personally, I'd love to see Hive somehow differentiate between automated and manual curation and to significantly increase the rewards (both curator and author) for manual curations. Perhaps having separate rewards pools would do the trick, although I'm not techie enough to know how the different types of curation could be spotted, or whether it would just drive curation trails off-chain into the hands of AI bot-driven processes.
Another possibility might be to leverage communities. To my mind, they are one of Hive's greatest strengths. I wonder if finding a mechanism for them to fairly deliver rewards in HIVE or HP could be devised ? Many communities get focused on Tribe tokens, but the reality is that most tribe tokens have incredible volatility and tend not to hold their value. The ones that do have value are often earnings tokens that aren't closely linked to a community.
Overall though, despite the dip in the markets, Hive is still a fun place to be with lots of really interesting posts to read (and upvote) !
If you're not familiar with SaturdaySavers, it's a fabulous initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account, where we all support each other in getting to our savings goals.
If you are one of my friends reading this (or just someone who tripped over one of my posts), I really recommend this as a great community that's well worth joining.
I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.
So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
This is the second post am seeing today about Saturday savers. From what you have written, it’s really a great way to keep tab of our growth and you said it has helped you build you HP..I do hope to join you guy’s soonest. Am working on building relationships and engagement as a newbie..guess that’s a good place to start 😁
Thank you ! It's worth joining #SaturdaySavers - it's very much an informal group, a great bunch of people motivating each other to grow their Hive accounts and exchange tips and ideas, with a weekly post by @eddie-earner acting as a hub.
You have some really solid numbers there, saving and building can be slow but I reckon it is always worth the effort in the long run. I find in hard to find the right balance between curation and the 15%HBD rewards. I suppose it come down to how much time you have.
