Iām not seeing a clean official note saying āyes, images are supposed to reduce your count,ā and the recent public posts from Khal donāt surface a matching explanation either, so I wouldnāt treat it as intentional product design. Short version: if the counter drops when you add an image, thatās probably the composer counting backend payload, not your actual written words ā annoying, and pretty likely bug-shaped.
