Splinterlands Musing Episode 1: Staking, and Taking profit

Splinterlands has always been a part of my life but in recent times, the game has actually grown into my source of employment. Every time I look at my deck and think "No, it can't get higher", it actually does, pleasantly defeating my expectations.

In this series, I'll be discussing my activities on the business side of Splinterlands regularly. I'll do a different series where I share clips of my battles and stuff, so please stay tuned.

SPS milestone reached

It is safe to say that Splinterlands has been the brightest spot of my year. The game's rise to prominence has carried all my assets with it and in the process. Thanks to this rise, my splinterlands portfolio is now the most valuable part of my portfolio and also the most profitable.

One of the protagonists of the rise in value is the SPS airdrop that has gotten the entire community super excited. I initially started receiving 76 SPS tokens but after selling some of my assets and the serious competition, I find myself receiving about 60 SPS tokens daily.

To mitigate this drop in value, I've been staking SPS tokens as well. Some days ago, I finally got to 1000 SPS tokens staked and now, my next target is 2k SPS.

Normally, getting another 1k would have been easy but judging by how I've been taking profit, it might take a minute.

It took 20 days into the airdrop to get to 1k SPS staked, and I think it will take about that length of time to double it. However, I don't think it will take that much longer to get to 3k staked.

Anyway, my hope is to be able to have like 12k SPS tokens staked at the end of the year. If I play my cards right(literally), I believe I'll be able to get myself to a decent level.

One way that will ensure I reach my target will be through my DeFi hustle. My investments in Cub and Cake ensure that I earn a couple of dollars daily. Those funds have been accumulating and I'll take a cut from it to buy more SPS tokens.

If I reach my monthly target of 1k SPS per month, or maybe even surpass it, then more grease to my elbow. So far so good, it's all going according to plan.

SPS tokens have held on to a pretty decent price range and if I manage to stake considerably more tokens, I'll be adding another source of passive income to my collection. Also, there have not been any specifics mentioned but staking SPS is connected to the Chaos legion packs coming soon and I'd like to buy as much as possible.

I speak fluent DEC

The addition of the Chaos legion pack will lead to another interesting rise in the demand for DEC tokens. Unlike cards, packs are sold at specific rates and so, let's say Chaos legions trade at 2k DEC like Untamed packs, then that's like $16 per pack.

Judging by the rush for DEC, the importance of holding to increase SPS earnings, and everything in between, I suspect we're going to see another pump in the price of DEC.

At the time of writing, 1 DEC is trading at roughly 0.014 Hive. I think we're going to see DEC climb close to 0.1Hive in the process. If we base the price of DEC at the current price of Hive, then that means 1 DEC could be as much as 5cents.

5 cents per DEC will be incredible and will take the market capitalization of Splinterlands some clicks closer to the $1 Billion. I certainly hope this actually happens, and we have the first Billion dollar entity on hive blockchain.

Of course, I'm taken profit

What's the point in making money if you're not going to improve your life with it? I've been taking profit as much as I possibly can and I've been using it to improve my life.

Right now, I'm accumulating funds that I'll invest into some gear and a high-end phone that I'll use for video content creation. Splinterlands revenue has been pivotal in accumulating the funds.

By the end of the month, all will be clear and I'll know how it will go. I have a couple of devices on my mind right now. Sadly, iPhone seems to be the best bet but I'll sacrifice too much of my convenience for that phone, so I'm looking at other high-end options.

Might I recommend a iPhone 10 Max 270k and you're good to go, thank me later. Congratulations on your wins, chopping the money.

Guy I've considered it. If I go through the available options for Android and no way, I'll buy the Iphone.

The problem I have with iPhone is that I'll be sacrificing so much of my convenience for ONLY camera. Like, I go just get phone wey an only camera I dey use inside. The thing dey worry my mind.

It's not just the camera, trust me, apart from the fact that you'll make quality videos, you can game hardcore on that iPhone, I mean some of the baddest games in the land, another thing is, if you're scared of the transition, you can still own your android and be switching it.

I own a Samsung M31s but then I need a more sleekier video phone too, but this would be next year.

Fuck Iphone buddy. Go for a OnePlus, its cheaper and way more powerful!

Fuck yeah. It's on the list.

The problem is that it's not easy to find around here

Ohh, ye I can see that as a problem :/
I pre-ordered my from OnePlus's website, so it was fairly easy x)

I'll check for it. Please send me link to the website if possible

https://www.oneplus.com/dk/9-pro

This is the danish version and it doesn't let me change it.
But ye, change/delete the "dk" and you should be good

Just checked it. I saw the phone in one Nigerian online shop and the price is $1200 in the shop lol. How the fuck am I suppose to spend over $1k on a damn phone? lol That money could buy a fucking car

ye... I bought it for $1000 pre-ordered + I got a wireless charger with it xD

Its expensive, but I also want to have a good phone for the next 5 years, so I think its worth the investment.

Also, can you buy a car for $1200? If its not used a lot, thats insane xD

I'm not sure about the DEC price continuing to spike, at least because of the Chaos Legion packs. The Untamed packs could be purchased with credits (tied to USD), in addition to DEC. Nobody is going to be paying DEC unless the price drops down close to the peg. I don't think the Chaos Legion release will necessarily lower DEC costs, but I wouldn't count on a huge spike.

On the other hand, I'm happy to hear that there is going to be another DEC-only collection (similar to DICE), which will help to prop up DEC prices.

Good luck, and congrats on taking some profits!

Very excellent read! I enjoyed it a lot. I am going to take inspiration from what you are accomplishing and kind of analyze what you do that makes you successful. And hopefully I can apply some of the same general principles to my own writing. Two thumbs way up!

I also have a goal like you, I want to accumulate 1K of SPS within 1 month, of course it is difficult but it will be worth it.

And I also want to buy a good equipment to make gameplays and video for 3speak, although an Iphone sounds pretty far away for me, I think that phones like the Pocophone or the Huawei are all machines, but I also want to buy a good equipment to make gameplays and video for 3speak.
