Yup, that IS one thing I also noticed about DAB/DBOND, the growth is rather slow, and it is always a matter of choosing until you have plenty of DAB. Once you have a lot of those, you can keep part of it staked to increase the DBOND, to receive liquid DAB that pays out the HIVE dividend. But it takes quite a while to get to those levels :-)
