The question I hear most lately is, how can I buy polycub? There are a ton of people on Hive that are interested in what polycub is doing, and becoming part of unlocking the potential that is there…but aren’t really clear on how to buy in. In fact, there’s a lot of people that are completely new to interacting with web3 enabled applications. That’s okay, today I’m going to show you one way, and what I think might be the best way, to buy some polycub. There’s a lot of different methods to move money from point “A” to point “B” in the crypto sector, and not all of them are great. In fact, trying to crypto across chains into a new interesting project I’ve found is often…discouraging. Luckily, I’ve been practicing.
I’ll go ahead and summarize the transactions this post will follow now, so that those of you who are already familiar can skip ahead. We’ll be buying Litecoin on coinbase, bridging it to hive through blocktrades, converting that into hbd through the internal marketplace and bridging over to polygon through the leo hbd bridge, swapping to polycub and staking it. Sounds like a lot huh? It is.
This method should prove to be far superior to the method I tried on my own last week(didn’t blog about it)…I bought matic on coinbase and withdrew to my metamask wallet, I was surprised when the matic didn’t show up in my polygon wallet…it did however show up in my Ethereum wallet….so then I had to bridge it to polygon by paying an enormous Ethereum gas fee…I think it’s only time before the world get’s fed up with these ridiculous gas fees…
So, I purchased $25 worth of Litecoin via coinbase, I wanted to use coinbase pro and avoid more fees, but there’s a 6 day waiting period to be able to withdraw money I deposit in the pro platform. Regular coinbase it is, the purchase fee was $1.49.

Create an account here https://hiveonboard.com?ref=cervantes420 -make sure you install hive keychain and add your account keys. After you’ve made a hive account, make an account at https://www.blocktrades.us/en/trade and connect with your hive account.
Set send to Litecoin, receive to hive, and type your account name in the receive address. You’re good to go!
Hop on over to https://wallet.hive.blog/market to sell your hive for hbd. I got mine for about $.85 not bad for a stablecoin pegged to the dollar. I actually made some of the money I paid coinbase for the purchase fees back in buying hbd off this internal market.

Then we need to bridge our HBD to the polygon network by wrapping it as pHBD. We can do that at https://wleo.io/hbd/ . At first I found this UI slightly confusing because there doesn’t seem to be any way to connect a wallet, but after entering my metamask address and making sure it was connected to the right blockchain, I entered a valid amount of HBD that I knew was in my hive wallet. When I pressed send I got a keychain popup requesting authorization and appreciated the simple design of the new bridge.
Next I used app.paraswap.io to trade my pHBD for polycub, I had to import both of the contract addresses. I’ll list them here, since I had some difficulty locating them.

Finally I stopped by my new favorite platform Polycub.com and staked my new polycub holdings. I can't express how bullish I am on polycub and everything the leofinance team is creating. It takes a lot of digging through and reading about the different technologies before you start to understand the bigger picture. But it is there and it's worth looking at, DYOR!
