#newsonleo #usa #politics #trump Donald Trump stated that he doesn't intend to run as Vice-President at 2028 election, despite many of his supporters urging him to do it as JD Vance's running mate in order to secure third term after Vance's planned resignation. 1/

Sort:

2/ Despite Trump occasionally flaunting idea of running for third term and even Polymarket suggesting 6 pct chance of becoming president in 2028, 22nd Amendment of US Constitution specifically bars anyone from serving more than two terms.

Idea of circumventing this ban via temporary vice-presidency isn't new and was first floated in 1988 by supporters of Ronald Reagan, who was widely popular among US public.

Apart from questionable constitutionality or political implications of such manuever, the issue, like in case of Reagan, might be President's advanced age. If he runs in 2028, Trump will be 82 years old and will leave office at age of 86, bringing questions about his health and general abilities, the same issues that plagued his predecessor Biden.

What Bannon is proposing isnt legal anyway. To serve as Vice President, one must meet the requirements for eligibility for the Office of the President.

Trump would not do that.
