That's similar to what happened in China decades after the "one child" policy. After enduring the unexpected side effects of that policy, China went back to a more family-friendly policy.

Yeah but by the time they did, it was too late. Chinese women are not having children at the rate the country needs, even after the ban got lifted.
That country is entering a harsh demographic phase. They might never pull out of it.

It's something I wonder about in California as well since the gas pumps include a gas tax and I wonder how they will make up for the loss
