Hahaha our mobile data speeds are faster than landbased connections. Although I'm laughing at that it is probably the best option for Australia given our largely vacant and dispersed population.

We've focused on direct connection for too long and should have been investing in wireless tech long ago.

Also important to note that mobile reception unless with Telstra is shocking outside the cities. I often experience significant black spots. 1km down the road and I have 0 Internet on mobile.

I am surprised with that. I used to think US and Canada has it better than us.

When it comes to broadband speeds and mobile speeds, the rest of the world has USA beat. I'm guessing part of that is the combination of the size of the country and the regulatory environment controlling it at local, state,a nd federal levels. The physically smaller nations are more nimble at establishing infrastructure.

The internet companies don't want to increase the speed too much since they want to earn money off the consumer.

It's sad to see the US so far down. Those cable companies need to get a hint and improve the speeds at a lower cost.
