Knowing how to speak publicly is a must for any entrepreneur who wants to become successful in life. Check out Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and so on, they all know how to speak publicly, because they have to convince shareholders, motivate their employees and list goes on and on. In this article, I will be sharing with you one awesome tips on how you can be able to overcome the fear of public speaking.

Calming Techniques

We tend to get nervous, anxious and tensed up when we want to give a public speech. No matter how much we have practiced, keeping anxiety level low may sometimes be difficult and our nerves tend to get the better of us. Trying some calming techniques can go a long way to keep us calm and stay focus. Meditation can help calm your nerves and clear your head of negative thoughts. We tend to get nervous before giving public speech due to anxiety of how we are going to perform. Doing 5 minutes meditation before you get on stage, can help eradicate negative thoughts from your mind. When we are tensed up, our voice tends to crack and gets dry. That's why sometimes, you need to squeeze some lemon into water and drink it, as it helps very well in lubricating the throat and make it feel less dry. Engaging in light exercise such as taking a walk or doing a few knee bends before your speech or presentation, can help get your blood circulating and send oxygen to your brain, thus, making you stay calm and less tensed. Focusing on your breathing too, can help you stay calm, relaxed and resonance. Breath deeply and calmly. Lastly, another effective technique to deal with nervousness and keep you calm, is to plant your feet firmly on the ground(literally and figuratively). Smile broadly and find a friendly face in the audience to connect with. In all, discover what works best for you and then do the same ritual every time you are facing an audience, as it will help keep you calm and divert your attention away from stage anxiety.
