Current Struggles

After making Gold 3 for the first time I realized that the air is becoming thinner the higher you climb in your ranks. While my win rate in Silver was well above 70% my win rate now is approximately 50% if not even lower. My summoners are currently at level 3 which is enough for the Silver leagues but when it comes to the Gold leagues I realize how much of a disadvantage I am. Most of my opponents have level 5 summoners or do even own the legendary summoners which are very often hard to beat. This is one of the reasons why I am thinking to invest a little bit more into the game so I can stay more competitive. Leveling my summoners up to level 5 would cost me a good bunch of money but it could be worth it in the end.

Furthermore, I was reading some articles from other Splinterlands players. It seems like all of them were struggling during the latest season as well. Some of them even only got one third of the rewards that they were usually getting. So maybe I just promoted myself to Gold at the wrong time and the low winning rate is a general problem and not just mine alone. On the other hand, I have to say that the battles that I lost were mainly because my opponent just out scaled me and had the better cards. Which brings me again to the conclusion that I should think about scaling up my existing summoners in order to climb the rankings.

Another dead-end for me would be my Collection Power. While I was able to climb this leader rather quickly in the past months, I feel a bit stuck in my current situation. With around 53k CP I am slightly over the Gold 3 mark. In order to get to Gold 2 in the Modern battle-system I would need to have 75k CP. I think I would be able to get a good amount by leveling up my summoners but then I would also need a good amount to level up my monsters. All in all, it is a pretty tricky situation at the moment. I was also trying to rent out some of my cards in order to make a little something on the side. In the end it was too unpredictable for me which is why I need to think of another strategy in this regard.

Strategy Moving Forward

This is where the strategy moving forward comes into play. The goals are clear: Make it to Gold 2 as well as level your summoners up to level 5 or higher. I will try to sacrifice some of my season rewards for this approach as I will try to rent out as many cards as possible in the beginning. I think a good strategy could be to play 2 days worth of Splinterlands in one session and then rent out your cards for the next 2 days while your ECR are recovering.

Not only that but I think developing new strategies for the higher leagues will be important if we want to continue to improve. I realized that the game changes over the rankings. Because monsters are getting more Abilities when leveled up it gets harder to play the Silver strategies all over again. Some monsters that were overpowered in Silver are now all of a sudden just mediocre and overlooked cards are suddenly the best ones to use. It will be a very interesting balance act as I do not want to just “buy” my way up to the top.

Upcoming Changes

The last strategy point is very much connected to the upcoming changes. For all of you that do not know, there will Land integrated in the game very soon. While one plot of land was around 150 USD about two weeks ago it is now already almost at 200 USD again. This put some obstacles into my plan of owning a piece of land in this game. I was slowly trying to save up some of my HIVE rewards in order to be able to purchase one of this rare assets. The thing is, we do not really know what the purpose of this will be. How will it be implemented and what benefits would plot owners have? It is a very big risk to take and it will be interesting to see whether land owners will benefit form this change. In this regard, I will still try to save up some funds for me to be able to purchase one plot of land. I am just waiting for the right time to buy.

Another very interesting change in the coming months will be the Rift Watchers packs! I really hope that there will be some interesting cards again and I can’t wait to analyze the new coming cards. I am already saving up my Vouchers in order to be able to purchase some pre-sale packs. Depending on the Voucher-price I am considering to buy or even sell some of my Vouchers to the market. I am telling you that if Vouchers will surpass the 10 USD mark I will get weak knees. It is very motivating to see that this project is not sleeping and despite the difficult market situation is still continuing to develop their game!

SPS Uptrend

Another very important in-game asset will be SPS. Now that the airdrop finally finished we actually saw a slight increase in price. We are now at around 0.07 USD per SPS and it is highly expected for the price to go even higher. With all the new expansions and new use cases as well as the Validator Nodes, the use-cases for SPS seem limitless. It is very great to see how an in-game asset is slowly becoming more and more relevant. Many people are even speculating for the price to reach 1 USD. While I am hoping that this could happen I am very much aware that this would mean an insane evaluation of the whole SPS market cap. Nevertheless, it is important to start saving up some SPS right now before it will get too expensive to buy new ones.

Conclusion

In conclusion we can say that this game has a bright future ahead! I am trying to play it smart and have as much fun along the way as I can. After all, developing new strategies with new cards is one of my favorite things to do in recent times! Thinking about all the upcoming opportunities and changes makes me excited to be part of this wonderful game and I can not wait to see the new Riftwatchers cards!
