Importance Of Collection Power
Let’s begin with one of the most important parts of the game: The Collection Power. While playing Ranked games you will notice two bars in the top of the screen. With each win you are gaining Rating points which make you increase the division you are playing in. You first start of in the Novice league and the more you win the higher your division gets. This would be very straight forward, if there would not be the second bar (blue). This bar shows you how much Collection Power you currently have. This bar is the second prerequisite to join a higher division. In the example picture below you would see that I easily fulfill the requirements for Silver 2 Division but because my Collection Power is not high enough, I have to stay in silver 3. This very important to know as the Rating is always easier to obtain than the Collection Power.
But how would you increase your Collection Power? This is easy the more cards you have in your deck, the higher your CP gets. The straight forward way would be to buy the required cards. Right now 10k CP is around 60 USD if you buy the cheapest cards on the market. This is not always recommended because these cards are most of the time not very useful but for cheap CP they are definitely worth the money. Another way is to rent the cards from the market. This is a way that a lot of people do when it gets to the end of the season. Therefore, the rental prices go trough the roof at the end of the season. Nevertheless, there might be some good deals, so give it a shot. It is always worth trying this out. In general, different cards have different Collection Power. In the following picture you can see which cards have the most Collection power so you know which cards to buy or rent.
Getting Out Of Bronze
Speaking of the different Divisions, I found out very quickly that it is important to get out of the Bronze Leagues as quickly as possible. This has several reasons. The first one being that the battles in higher divisions are usually more fun and have a lot more opportunities for different strategies as the monsters can acquire more abilities with higher level. The more important reason are the rewards. Not only would you get more reward chests at the end of the season, but for accomplishing daily quests you are getting two chest in Silver 3, which is already twice the amount compared to Bronze. But wait, it gets better! The chance of getting a reward card is 50% from Silver and above whereas Bronze only has a 25% chance of getting a reward card. As we all should know by now, Cards are very important for the Collection Power, therefore having a greater chance of getting reward cards is definitely worth it.
Summoners First
Next up we have to talk about the stage where you finally have enough CP to level up and get into the Silver Leagues. You will quickly realize that your monsters have to get stronger so that you can improve your win rate. But here is the catch! You should always improve your summoner first, as this card is the one which determines how strong the rest of your line up will be. How far you should level can be seen on the card’s stats. You can see that on level 2 the summoner allows you to play common cards up to level 3, rare and epic cards up to level 2 and legendries only at level 1. Because summoners are on the expensive side you should focus on only one or two Splinters in the beginning. The most popular elements are definitely water and earth but you can focus on whatever suits you the best.
Cards > Packs
Now let’s talk about a topic that everybody would agree with me. If you are starting out, it is always more beneficial to buy the cards that you want straight away instead of wasting your money on packs. This mechanic is probably true for every game out there that has a chance-based pack system. It is important to mention that these systems are not bad. I think they are quite the opposite as it brings the charm of pulling an amazing card and profiting from it but for players that are just starting off and do not know the mechanics yet a standard deck would do just fine in the beginning and is definitely cheaper to acquire more Collection Power!
Importance Of DEC & SPS
Last but not least I want to talk about the importance of DEC and SPS. Dark Energy Crystals can be earned by winning battles. The higher you come the more DEC you get for a win. You can then spent them on new and better cards or on leveling your existing ones. But there is also a benefit of just holding the DEC and this is the current SPS Airdrop. For every in-game asset that you own you are getting a certain amount of SPS dropped to you every day. Among these assets are your cards, unopened packs, land plots and DEC. The latter is arguably the most effective one because you would get more SPS for 100 DEC than for 100 DEC worth of cards for example.
SPS is currently one of the most interesting topics in Splinterlands. Frist of all you can stake it and earn around 28% APY on it. Moreover, for every SPS staked you can get a certain amount of Vouchers airdropped every day to you. These Vouchers are being used to get early access to new packs. Alternatively they can be sold for a good amount when a certain promotion is around the corner. Furthermore, the SPS airdrops will end within the next 140 days which means that the SPS supply will drop substantially and with more utility to this coin the price of it can definitely raise over the next few months.
I hope that I was able to help some of you to see the game in a different light. If you have any questions or have any other points that are important in your opinion, do not hesitate to give feedback! With that being said, check out my other guides:
