Your channel has grown and people actually talk to you. Unfortunately, it's not just your friends anymore, and growth means some level of accepting internet strangers. But many of those strangers would rather get attention by being rude than create a supportive environment…so it's time to get some moderators.
What makes a good moderator?
A good moderator should have a similar sense of values and taste. Maybe you don't mind seeing a stream of heart emoji's flying by in the chat. Maybe you prefer substantial posts and not dozens of people posting F for respect. (Possibly because that meme is from 2014.) Anyway, mods should really like your stream, because for many small channels, moderating is a volunteer position.
Where can I find a good moderator?
This is often less of a problem than it seems, because the growth of your channel will create regulars, and probability states that some of them will be trustworthy and supportive. The people who make funny jokes, show up regularly, and help explain the ropes to new users are good candidates. And if they become unavailable or aren't a good fit, almost all streaming platforms make it easy to de-mod.
How do I reward moderators?
Some people moderate Internet communities for the sheer joy of helping them grow. And while there are a series of benefits, like private streams, inviting them to join games, exclusive discord channels, and emojis, be honest about your financial situation. If your stream is generating money, those who help maintain it deserve a cut. While it's a waste of time to divide up imaginary money, some level of expectation setting is vital early on. What amount of revenue will go to equipment, games, and other expenses? Will you be gaming into the foreseeable future, or is this something you want to do for a few years until you change your avenue of expression?
