Hiveans have an interest in decentralized communication platforms. Because of that, a lot of Hiveans have an interest in Elon Musk buying Twitter and we've overlaid our interests onto the acquisition as if they are the interests of Elon Musk.
And maybe he does have some interest in it but Elon Musk didn't just wake up one day and say, you know, I have a bunch of money and I like Twitter and decentralized communication. Maybe I'll solve the worlds censorship problems in my spare time.
Elon Musk runs/owns the largest robotics platform in the world with aspirations to expand that beyond cars and car manufacturing robots.
He has competitors circling like Apple, Google, and Amazon.
All of these companies are on the path toward the same place but have used different paths to get there.
The difference was that Google, Apple, and Amazon have incredible access to information through their various platforms and gadgets. Tesla had incredible access to certain types of information that allowed them to map roads better but they didn't have access to the multiple varieties of information enjoyed by their competitors.
They weren't in peoples pockets. They didn't have access to social information or world events or a way to sort that information. They weren't in billions of peoples habits and homes.
Guess what Twitter is?
It's an under-utilized platform with access to information so fast that even news organizations use it to push out info faster and fill in the gaps of what they can't get on their own. And its done in bite-sized chunks that is perfect for AI learning.
And unlike Tesla, its used by billions already. Tesla now has a user base that rivals Google and Microsoft. They weren't going to get that by selling expensive cars.
This acquisition is a perfect match for Tesla without ever touching decentralized communication or censorship issues. And at $44 billion, he got it for song(bird).

What makes you say Twitter si under-utilized? In which way you see growth possibilities?

Underutilized in that it's only treated as a social platform where its top asset is the attention of millions of people with a small amount of data used to sell advertising.
The most valuable asset in the world is data. Twitter is real time and easily parsable data collected from the entire world and all coming to a central location. It is the gold standard of data creation and collection.
Few companies are better positioned to analyze and use that data to create new products though AI/machine learning and robotics than Tesla. As a social network it isn't underutilized but the byproduct of the social network is wasted when their entire vision is to use it to make a few bucks selling ads.
