That's true, but they are not all cheap labor. Some of them are highly qualified people that are looking for better life opportunities or trying to escape totalitarian regimes.

Yes not all will be cheap labor but I think at least half will. Also automation is aiming for more than just the cheap jobs. So who knows how many of them will still be employed in the job market.

Unskilled labor is being automated out. The "advantage" some countries have with immigration is that they are facing demographic issues. Thus they can absorb the immigrants easier into the work force (and tax them).
