How The Splinterlands Gwen's Shop Can Be Improved

I finished the season that had just ended in Diamond One Wild. I almost made it to Champion 3, but I couldn't.

Anyway, I do not think there are any additional benefits to playing in Champions League, aside from an increase in glint rewards and possibly a slight increase in your SPS reward when you win ranked battles. Nonetheless, it was a fairly good season.

Some Calculations

I believe I win between 12 and 15 games per day, earning an average of 0.9 SPS per game. So let us say 0.9X13 wins per day multiplied by the 13 days of the season. So I earned approximately 152 SPS in the recently concluded season. It could be slightly less or more, but somewhere around here.

Shopping With Less Glint Features

The reason I still prefer the previous reward system is that there are daily rewards to look forward to, as well as the element of surprise that comes with opening a chest. Using Glints to buy chests is not better than earning them. I understand that we used to have a lot of useless potions, but the previous reward system was still better. If this change helped the SPS price, the SPS from the season's chests could continue, with SPS removed from the chests.

This way, more people can still earn a decent season's reward without competing with Glints to buy soulbound cards. The Glint system is still chaotic and less rewarding, as you will discover once you have had some shopping experience.

My Shopping Experience

I did, so I will share my shopping experience of spending Glint in the Gwen's Shop. After the new reward season/system began, I burned some of my legendary soulbound cards' ordinary foils because I had already maxed out their gold forms, as well as some redundant cards. I received approximately 19k GLINT at the end of the burn. I decided to save this until the end of the season. After the season ended, I received approximately 22k glint as a reward, which was doubled So, at the end of the season, I received about 44.3k glint tokens in rewards,

so I went shopping with about 60k Glints and documented all the cards I was able to purchase with them. I stopped shopping when I had reached 6,800 glint. I have documented the cards I received.

Calculations

For the record, I did not receive any legendary cards and purchased approximately 6 master's draw and 8 veterans draw. For the sake of curiosity, I purchased approximately 9 elite draws. That is 23 draws and approximately 55,300 glint tokens spent in total. So I added another 11k or so to my previously owned glint token and still did not get a legendary.

Essentially, if I had earned 40 to 50 gold chests in the previous season, minus the SPS, I would still be able to obtain better soulbound rewards.

I understand that more soulbound cards should be removed from circulation, but the Gwen's shop could be better designed so that you can easily swap your legendary cards for another equivalent of that legendary card, as well as rare, epic, and common cards. There should also be additional sections where players can easily purchase the specific soulbound cards they require.

Players Needs To Be Able To Buy The Specific Cards They Want

The cards may cost more, but it will be better because if players save up Glints to buy cards, they will know that they are saving to buy the specific cards they want, rather than relying on draws or a chance to buy multiple previous cards they own and continue the burn cycle. The Gwen's Shop concept is not completely useless, but I believe they can improve it in terms of gamification, choices, and sophistication, and players will soon forget that SPS is no longer a reward.

The Gwen's Shop Can Still Rock

One of the reasons why many players continue to think this change is terrible is the crudeness of Gwen's shop. It looks like something out of kindergarten. The gamification of the shopping and glint tokens requires a revamp, as do new shopping features and experiences. This change is not entirely negative; it can be improved, and this is what Splinterlands INC must address immediately.

I agree! Plus another thing that sucks is if you use ten in one category draw the price increases for the rest of the season on that same draw. It just makes it harder to get good card draws. For example on the master draw I drew ten and it climbed to 7500 for each draw. So I did ten more and it jumps to 11250 per draw... Annoying!

They probably want to limit how much draw you can buy per day, so that increase the price when you go on a shopping spree. What they can actually do is allow people to buy the cards they actually want rather than making up thos draws that gives you useless cards.

I'm not feeling the changes at the moment... maybe it takes some getting used to but I'm missing the excitement of the daily chests. Also, the rewards bought from the shop have been mediocre for me but I've read about some players getting really good rewards.

Yeah I saw some players getting good reward but I think they earned up to a 100k glint and this made it possible for them to get as much Master draw. Mine was mediocre at best after shipping with over 55k glint though. I'm truly not feeling it too.

It's a nice update

Well, if you say so

Do you (or anyone) know why the cards bought in Gwen's Glint Shop are locking? How long are they locked? I wrote a post asking these questions, but there are no replies to these questions so far.

They're locked because they're still soulbound cards, you can only use them to play and can't sell them as Glint is a token use to purchase them.

Will they be available to send/sell them in the future, or they are locked forever?

Nobody knows this at the moment. For now, the soulbound are not tradable and can only be used to play and earn SPS in ranked battles

Thank you for the reply.

I think this rank is not bad, it takes a lot of hard work, a whole season, as many games as possible, then a person reaches this place.

I also think the rewards aren't as great as the previous system. It takes a lot of effort to get enough Glint and I feel it is definitely less rewarding. However, maybe my luck wasn't so bad in the shop as I did get a legendary card. Then again, I only went for the bare minimum price for card draws.

The rewards are no longer as good as they used to be and it's simply not worth it. I didn't get any legendary at all. Splinterlands has to remodel the Gwen's shop to be very honest. It's good to see that you at least got a legendary, it makes the shopping worth it.
