LeoFinance Alpha Update | LeoInfra Backend, Autosave Drafts, Threads Placeholder

in LeoFinancelast year

It's Friday and you know what that means? Another weekly update to the LeoFinance Alpha UI. We've followed a new schedule of releasing something every single Friday. It may be a small update or a big update or something in between.

Edit: this post was ironically sitting in drafts for a while. This update was pushed 2 Friday's ago.

We've had 2 other updates since then and will be releasing each post describing our updates.

As we've talked about, we're doing updates to the UI every single Friday. Every Friday, you can expect something new to roll out! Sometimes these are minor updates and tweaks, other times these are big updates and new feature releases.

We're charging fast on pushing the Alpha UI into Production. Last week, we announced that the Alpha UI will officially be moving into Production on May 1st, 2023.

This will mark the deprecation of the old UI that is currently on LeoFinance.io and the replacement of it with the Alpha.LeoFinance.io to that domain.

With each Friday, we're marking items off our list that we consider to be Core Features that need to be on the UI before we can make it to production.

Today's update is majorly on the backend. It includes a wide range of backend improvements to LeoInfra. You may notice some better loading times on things like Threads & Polls.

Additionally, the LeoInfra update allowed us to open up the Autosave Drafts and View Drafts feature.

Hopefully, this brings a lot more people to the "Publish" Page of the new Alpha UI. A big concern before was losing a draft.

This should not happen on the new UI. If you turn on Autosave, you'll see a green light in the top right telling you that what you're writing won't get lost.

With that being said, here's a little disclaimer:

Disclaimer: PLEASE keep a second copy of your writing somewhere during this Alpha stage of the UI. I would hate to see anyone lose a copy of their writing in case the Drafts system has some kind of unknown bug.

I've been testing it and everything seems to be smooth. I haven't lost a draft yet. Our goal is to make it 100% bullet proof when it's all moved to production (from https://alpha.leofinance.io to https://leofinance.io). With that being said, please be careful and just keep an extra copy for your own content's safe keeping until we have officially moved to the leofinance.io production stage.

LeoInfra Backend, Autosave Drafts & Drafts

When you start writing a post, just enter in a title and start typing some text. Hit the "Enable Drafting" button in the top right and you'll see the button turn green as you're writing.

The spinning icon + green light is an easy reminder that your writing is being autosaved and backed up to your drafts.

If you want to view any of you drafts, simply click "View Drafts" and you'll see a pop-up window like this:

There you'll find all of your drafts.

This might seem stupidly simple. That's because we wanted it to be 100% bulletproof and easy to use.

This is our entire philosophy with the new UI. Create the best, seamless, easy to understand User Interface for Web3.

Between Posts and Threads, our goal is to make everything hyper-intuitive. Simple features like drafting posts shouldn't require massive guides and how-to's on how to use them.

Backend

We made a lot of backend improvements in this update. This sets the stage for the next iteration of LeoInfra which will integrate the Hive Lite Account protocol.

This is actually the V2 of that Hive Lite Account protocol which is currently live on https://leofinance.io and allows us to onboard new users to Hive using only their Facebook, Twitter, Phone number or Email address.

On the new UI, we'll be integrating a far better version. This will be live before May 1st when the Alpha UI is merged into Production.

Have You Used the New UI To Publish?

The new publishing UI has been getting a lot of polishing from our dev team. We think it's vastly improved over the old Leofinance.io publishing UI. Super easy to use and intuitive with a beautiful preview feature.

If you have any #feedback on the UI, feel free to also post that and use the hasthag "#feedback" either on threads or long-from posts.

We recently launched the Wallet UI as well. Our next post will be the update from that release which went live last Friday 🦁

You can access the brand new wallet UI via your Profile -> Wallet button.

Amazing updates and Drafts are a lifesaver. I simply cannot live without them anymore. 😆😆

Yeah, big update but I'll always have my contents backed up.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Smart. I do the same for posts that take me a long time

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Haha yep I need them too! Been writing all my posts on the new UI since they went live

This is awesome, having this update really shows how far the community is pushing.

The community team are definitely the talk and do one, nice one

We’ve made a lot of progress. In hyperdrive now for the next 11 days until May1st launch of the full UI

So far, I've got 90% success trying to publish from the new UI. I hope it gets better with this latest update.

However, there is still a bug that posts made from the new UI do not show images in some condenser frontends of Hive. IF the link is also shared on threads, it does not show an expanded view of the post. See screenshot below:

This is not a bug, it’s just because the UI uses alpha.leofinance.io links

This won’t be a problem after may 1st

Can we use the new UI already to publish blogs?

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Yes! For the past 6 weeks now you could use it for that

We just added drafts. Hit Publish on the left to start writing

I like the philosophy with the new UI. That's what web3 apps need, simple and easy to understand. I'm having a bit of a problem signing in via hivesigner after I was automatically logged out from the new UI.

Have you tried using Keychain? Hivesigner had some difficulties few days back.

I did via the keychain browser but haven't been successful in logging into the new UI.
It's probably that.

I can imagine how frustrating it's been for you trying to log in. You can continue trying hopefully you will get through.

Yes, I will eventually. Thanks :)

We have a small issue with the Hivesigner login. Working on it

Do you get a blank screen when trying to login?

If so, notice the URL says localhost:3000 and then the rest of the URL

If you replace just localhost:3000 with alpha.leofinance.io, then signing in will work.

We will fix this by Friday this week tho

Thanks for the tip. I did that and it worked!
