Happy new year Frens. Happy that we all made it and my wish is that year 2024 will be fair to all of us.
Few days ago, precisely 29th December, I got a notification from Hive buzz wishing me one year anniversary on Hive and I couldn't hold back the excitement of being a member of this wonderful community for a year now.
Wow, how time flies. I remember the challenges I encountered on the day of my onboarding. It was just like the site already made a plan to frustrate my registration as I tried three good times and each time had keys downloaded which amounted to three sets of keys.
It was confusing because they all looked same that I didn't know which was the right one again and even more frustrating as I tried logging in with the keys and was getting error messages. But after trying them out one after the other, I was able to note the right one and safely back it up.
I wasn't going to allow any damned keys stop me from getting into this community with unlimited possibilities for gaining financial freedom.
One of the best decisions I took in year 2023 was joining Hive because it has become a life changer for me. I see myself as not only lucky but privilege to be a Hivian. Without mincing words, I see my being on Hive as a divine plan and I'm not taking it for granted.
I say this because of the numerous benefits which I have gained since getting onboard Hive, which I may or may not have gotten if I weren't here.
- Hive gave me a wonderful family and friends.
Asides from my own family, Hive has become my second family and I see everyone here as part of this one big family. The love, care and support that I have gotten here are so overwhelming that I can't think of spending a day without logging into the platform to spend time with my wonderful family members.
Is it the amazing friends that I have made, I can't even begin to tag them all here. What about the awesome communities that has helped me to learn, unlearn and relearn in this journey of being a content creator.
- Hive offered me a platform to learn blogging and content creation.
Prior to joining Hive, I had little knowledge of what content creation, blogging and micro blogging was all about. As I read so many quality contents, engaging with the creators and learning from their wealth of knowledge, my writing skills began to improve such that I can write on any topic whether crypto, finance or general topic.
On the aspect of micro blogging, I learnt it when I joined InLeo. Although I had a Twitter now X account, I didn't really understand how it worked but from creating contents and engaging on Leothreads, I can now create quality and engaging threads and tweets which get some good level of impressions.
Infact from the first day I started threading, I got hooked that I'm now addicted to it. Threads is a joy giver, stress reliever, fun, educating and informative. I can't even begin to list all that I have learnt just being being on threads and I will still continue to learn more and more because learning never ends. Also the more I publish posts, the more I keep improving and I hope to see my contents becoming evergreen.
- With Hive I gained knowledge about Crypto
Before joining Hive, I was an amateur in crypto, Infact I knew nothing about Web3 decentralization platforms. Although I knew about Bitcoin, Etherum and other coins but I buy any because I saw it as only meant for the big whales rather I went into investing in some so called crypto mining platforms which were all scams. I lost heavily.
But with Hive I know better and my level of knowledge about crypto has grown. I know about Web3 decentralized platforms, market trends, exchange platforms, Layer 2 tokens, NFT's etc. and even the viable ones to invest in. Hive is a safe haven and that's why I am being so bullish, buying Hive, Leo tokens and powering them up including my earnings. The layer 2 tokens are not left out, the plan is for long term hodling.
- With Hive, I Got A Savings Account
We all know that having a savings account is so beneficial and that's why it's pertinent to have one whether in fiat or crypto and the rest. Although I had a fixed savings account and a pension scheme from where I work, I saw in Hive a better and safer place to save for the future. That is why when I learnt about HBD savings and the 20% APR for the first time from Khal, I didn't waste time to start saving. Infact I had to use part of my salary to start off until I started publishing posts and earning HBD rewards and it's been adding up since then, although not as much as I would have loved it to be but it's still better than having none at all.
As at 31st December, 2023, my Hive wallet sits at
120 HBD in savings
1,072 HP as a minnow
7,073 Leo Power, which was my goal for 2023.
Plus other layer 2 tokens that I equally staked.
Hive gave me an alternative stream of income
Human wants are insatiable and they increase by the day and with the current economic situations, one stream of income may not adequately take care of such needs and that's why having extra source is important. There are various ways to earn on Hive - creating long form contents, short form contents via threads, curation, delegation, engaging in community's contests, the zealy quest organized by Inleo and the rest. With Hive one is sure of daily micro earning and that's absolutely amazing.
With all the benefits that I have gotten from being on Hive in this past one year I have no doubt that I will enjoy more in the coming years.
Participation in the Hive Power Up
The year has started and it calls for active participation and support for the growth of the Hive blockchain and Hive Power Up Day which comes up every first day of the month is one of such ways. Members are expected to power up at least 10 Hive and also help friends who do not have enough Hive to power up too to be qualified to earn #hpud badge and various delegations too.
I wasn't able to start off the year 2023 by participating in #hpud because as at then my rewards payout setting was at 100 HP but I had to reset it after several months and started participating.
I'm so excited to join other friends in the first Hive power up day of year 2024 and I powered up 28 Hive.

My Hive goals for the first quarter of year 2024
So for this year 2024, I have resolved to be very very intentional about my activities on Hive. I will strive to
- Be active in the community, create more quality and engaging contents.
- Concentrate more on organic engagement and curating quality contents too.
- Participate and support the community's projects.
- Delegate to other viable projects.
- Expand my knowledge about crypto.
- To grow my Hive stake to 1,500 HP. It is very much possible.

The HBD savings pays 20% APR. All you need do is go to Keychain, at the saving box where you have Hive or HBD, tap on the + sign, select input the amount you want to save and deposit.
Can I remove it from savings anytime
Yes but it takes some days to do so.
