Engagement is a very crucial part of social media if not the main aim. Sadly its not like that here on hive but i am sure there's always room for improvement.

Agreed. What puzzles me is why it isn't like that on hive?

Because of the selfishness and the greed.
The most of the people focus only on their own posts, and they do not (or rarely) comment under other people's posts.
Many people write posts, but only a few write comments under other people's posts. They write their own posts, and they wait for the rewards.
If people would support each other, the Hive blockchain would be a better place, and the Hive would worth probably much more.
I suppose that's unavoidable... along with spammy posts.
