Thats because the wealthy have time which they use their money to buy. Pay people to do the things me and you need to do. This allows them to pursue government and engage.

The thing I find about local politics is that many of the people I speak to on local issues feel the same way but they are unable to engage and make the change. Quite often they delegate this voice to others. But unless you have the numbers you can't effectively create change.

The richer you are the more time you have (I do hold privileg in this space and I am concious that many of my friends and community members do not have the same ability)

This is why I will take calls at 1 - 2 am from a shift worker working night shift and that's their lunch break, it is why I go out to peoples homes when the call me so they don't have to tackle getting child care or working their life around things.

It is why people in leadership positions MUST do what people tell them, it is the most important thing. But often I have seen people come up and get overwhelmed, swamped and some even maybe turn completely.

People in positions of power need to respect it and listen. Otherwise we end up with a complex and confusing system. Maybe commenced with good intentions to repair but became worse in the long run.

The problem is the "deep state" which nobody but Trump wanted to address. These are the career operatives in the governmental machine that are NOT voted in. They are lobbyists and "journalists" and department employees who have risen up the ranks by currying favor and influence behind the scenes. They grease the wheels of new "idealistic" politicians coming into the scene and then once they set enough hooks in them, they start giving them "offers they can't refuse". They can wreck peoples careers whenever they want and yet they can't be removed because, one, they're not elected, and, two, they've created the culture where everyone underneath them is just trying to get to their level. So, remove one and three more are there to take their place.

Trump was trying to "drain the swamp" and look what happened. The insider elite and the media rose up and basically railroaded him at all turns to throw him out. I mean, seriously, on DAY ONE he took office they came out saying they were going to impeach him. Day one. You don't see anything wrong with that?

Regardless of your political persuasion do this one thing and then look at the events of his 4 years and see if it changes your opinion. Pretend that their IS a deep state who felt threatened by Trump, an outsider.

Start with the 11th hour "rule" changes Obama made for the FBI on his way out and work your way through two impeachment trials. If you keep that premise in mind while you listen to what people say, it becomes pretty obvious.

I always liked a flat tax. 10% on everything. No need to file complicated tax forms every year. Tax comes out whenever you buy something. Done.
