Many people comment without understanding the distinction — increased survival among older adults is not the same as improved athletic performance

The paper does not compare zone 1–2 vs 3–5 or easy vs intense exercise
It labels "vigorous" as roughly jogging at a 15‑minute mile pace
That pace can be walked by many people

The finding is simply that any form of purposeful exercise, light or hard, yields more health benefit than a very slow walk

The study does not test whether a slow jog is better or worse than hard intervals, despite quick leaps to that conclusion
Definitions matter: "vigorous" in this study is fairly mild

It's a reasonable study, but it does not support the strong claims being attached to it online
