CNIL in France has fined Google 100 million euros.

A €60 million was imposed on Google LLC and €40 million on Google Ireland Limited from CNIL, the French authority for personal data.

A fine of €35 million euros was also imposed on Amazon.

These fines were given to these two companies for violating the rules on cookies, information storage, use and protection of personal data. The main reason is that there was no consent from users for the cookies to store preferences.

It seems that the European Union is putting a brake on the giants who could in any state, from any citizen, take whatever information they wanted and use it to their advantage, without written consent.

Although I do not believe that they would stop the uncontrollable giants in the end from exploiting their position... We have to wait and see how the companies will react to European Union’s new found courage
