Then you are not anywhere close to being free according to that definition.

However, if you were able to pay all your bills without working, would you be financially free then?

well, i think. personally, i think being financially free is being able to cater to my bills without stress. i don't want to stop working. well, it depends on what we take as work. i consider the time and effort put into creating content and engaging as work--one that I like and willing to commit to.

It says nothing about not working or stopping work.

Simply the ability to pay your bills without working. If you choose to work, and what on, is up to you.

To me, that is freedom.

Yeah, having clear vision to really do something fulfilling, something you believe in and adds value to your life instead of grinding for the need of a paycheck is what freedom is to me. I'm fortunate enough that the work I do is not about grinding (anymore) but I do a lot of physical work I might not be able to do until I'm 70+, so creating even more freedom is great.

I think that is the direction humanity is moving towards. The idea of grinding out 40, 50-, 60 hours just to pay your bills and for sustenance is insane.

Yet that is the history of humanity.

In a sense that wasn't a problem in the beginning, you had a job, a purpose and that's what you did: surviving. I'm talking at least pre-office jobs, right now a lot of people are trapped in shit-jobs for a paycheck and in the future many will be jobless.

Finding purpose will become very important at that point, it's a human need.
