Initiatives are important
Few days ago, when @taskmaster4450 announced his "The Initiative Of 10", I got quite exited.
What a perfect vision !
Author has lined up all things in a very clear way, and it was not much left to be added.
By that time I was already doing some curation on comments here, and this post just gave me a good new BOOST.
The more I was thinking, the more arguments I was finding to act in this direction.
It was extremely interesting and pleasure to see how others support this, and what comments they have put.
Here is a few:
- Google's SEO ? How I could not think about this?
- Attraction and first impression to the newcomers? Sure, no doubt !
- Your small upvote of 0.1 Leo most likely will be lost on a 250 Leo rewarded root level post, but it can easy start a new relations and friendship with another LeoFinance user. So obvious !
I strongly recommend you to go and read that post yourself.
HERE and NOW !
At the same time, as it often happens to the elder people, and bunch of skepticism was starting to boil deeper inside me.
People are lazy. And if not - they are busy. And not always naturally innovative.
You can repeat hundreds of times for them "how much good their actions will bring to the community" (some day), but will they act?
They don't want to wait.
Yes, sure, engage, comment, share, ... yada-yada... bright future... for all of us ! But...
They want to be rewarded now. Rewards HERE and NOW, please !
And this brought me to conclusion:
OK, FINE !

Well, not quite NOW, just wait a bit, 6-7 days ( that's how the reward system works)
Just Do it, comment, engage, show, share this as your good example, and rewards ARE COMIN'!
Why should I spread my daily 10 full power upvotes only on the root level posts, when I can put them elsewhere?
(worth around ~800-900 LEO. It shrank a bit during last 2 weeks)
Put on those who have the right vision, who act in favor of mutual community benefits.
Every single of my 100% upvotes can be divided into 60 (sixty !) smaller votes, 1.66% each, (1.3-1.4 LEO)
Up to 600 valuable comments can be upvoted every day, and with current flat reward calculation scheme my own profits will not suffer from this even one small bit !
This is a mind blowing opportunity !
Ohh, yes, sure, this will take time.
But I'm retired. All the time is mine !
I spend the major part of my day in LeoFinance anyways.

So I started to do this more and more.

One extremely useful feature in LF UI settings is possibility to set your vote's default values:
Extremely time saving thing !
Note, that 1.66% is not my only option.
Time to time it goes out as 6.6% (for some strange reason 6.66% here does NOT work for me, error always pops up)
And if I see something exceptional, and you are lucky - a "BRANDED" 66.6% vote is possible too. 😃
The very good, promising thing is to see, how every day more and more curators are following our footsteps with taskmaster4450
So, what are you waiting for?

Well, in this moment I am waiting for posts and comments to display properly (something seems to be "misfiring")... but that's beside the point.
In the earliest going on Steem, the number ONE attraction was that of a social content site that felt more intelligent and respectful than the typical petty battles of a Facebook, Instagram or twitter... and I really enjoyed that part. My hope for LeoFinance... particularly after this nice new front end became available... was that the social aspects might start to thrive again; with the exception of those dedicated to @abh12345's Engagement League that seems to have been in decline on Hive... perhaps because most people simply don't hold enough Hive Power to upvote comments. On LeoFinance, not so much of an issue. Even with my modest stake/delegations of 1700LP, my vote means something.
So I'm totally onboard, in my own small way... this account was actually only intended for commenting and curation, not for top level posting... and I will probably stick to that approach!

I did a post 3 days back about the Vote Weight multipier, unfortunately leodex does not retain and show me what I set last time. I was not aware of these settings, does the Vote Weight multipier comes into picture on top of these settings ?
I was expecting some answers from the leo devs, but no one responded.

Hm mine retains on there. Could you try it again and drop a screenshot in a reply here if it doesn't retain the previous setting. It could've been a temporary node issue, but I tried to reproduce it and couldn't find the issue

I have the same problem with the voters multipliers, i would like to have the oportunity to benefits the hive vote to other publish and leo with others unfortunetly it was not posible.

Really proud of you. Real talk, you could simply enjoy the fruits of your investment and some great return simply by upvoting 10 random posts or just set your favorite authors on autovote and sit back doing nothing.
Yet you are here more active than ever before trying to spread LEO far and wide. I support this initiative as much as I can too. Upvote many comments every day, and will continue to do so. % LEO on an authors post or on the same's author comment has the exact same end result. Yet the benefits from tons of comments on every post will benefit each and everyone in the not so distant future.

The work you do in encouraging engagement is commendable
Commenting takes much longer, and large investors often don't have the time.

First of all I am so happy to see that on of my comments is featured in these screenshot. I haven't evem imagined such a payout for my comment.
I have over 10,000 posts and I blog almost twice a day for almost three years and rarely do I see my posts receiving over $10 in upvotes. Most of those posts are actually curated by @appreciator.
Now seeing someone that has all this time and willingness to curate so many comments it makes me feel like loving this platform even more.
Being a content creator I am aware of how important content is for one social media platform and that's why I haven't ever trashed Hive, but without engagement such platform feels like a theatre without spectators.
As much as I love and need these damn rewards sometimes I would ditch my post rewards for some interaction... That's what makes us humans and that's why I hate bots and automation.
Regarding curation I only have 1000 delegated LP but I try to almost every day drain it. Now since I appreciate and find this initiative of you and @taskmaster4450 I will try and upvote more comments than posts with my 0.12 vote.
You can't even imagine how a content creator like myself, and probably many others, who spend quite some time creating on this platform when you see a fat upvote on your post. Rewarding is a small word 😉.

It was great to see so many comments. I have been upvoting comments to for a while on LEO. It is a great way to encourage more activity.

Setting the vote default value is something I actually find useful and interesting. As much as rewarding can be an incentive for engagement. I find it pleasurable to engage with contents i can relate with. So while we actually strive to create a robust and active community we've found out that diversification is something we need and we exactly have found this out through engagement and that also is another thing engagement has helped us achieve. Your effort at comment rewarding has been really immense. Cheers.

How did you get your stats for weight on top level posts compared to comments? Is that on Hivestats or are you manually tracking it, I'd be interested, very interested to track my own comments.

Actually a great idea what Leo did guaranteeing your return back on curation. It doesn't matter what time you vote as it is your stake that counts. Would like to see it happen on sports.
Wow, that's great, I didn't know about that tool to configure the voting power, both for comments and for publications. This initiative is great, I like to interact with other authors and have them interact with me and my content.

Comments are so important!
I wrote a blog about my first month on Hive recently. And the lack of comments was one of the things that was a bit disappointing.
I mainly create photography related posts and most of those received many upvotes but hardly any comments.
I would rather receive more constructive comments than automated blind upvotes.

Comenting means communicate with the authors I think what make little different hive/ leo and forum In a forum , a short post but interesting topic can be long conversation and thread. In leo we should b honest,that most users do not think about commenting. The first thing is to post and get reward. in fact, there are other sides from reward by commenting.

One must love your numbers and you showed that 666 might be the lucky number around! Commenting is what brings communities closer and with your support and the one from taskmaster4450 this simply takes it to the next level. Any new user or existing one getting a comment and maybe an upvote will also get some trust that he is on the right path. Common interest, a community that takes us all to the moon is what brings us closer and follow the same dream!

Well, this initiative created by Task was a great way to motivate even more users, especially new ones that I believe are the target audience. It is always an honor to be able to participate and the more people involved to vote on the comments, we will have many satisfied lions.
It will be something that over time, it will become a natural habit to comment and interact and this will be one of the foundations of LeoFinance and is one of the reasons that make this community different from the others.

I have always liked the fact that you make thing sound as simple as they really are (maybe even more)
I agree that commenting is very important.. The author gets extra motivated, the platform receives more organic traffic, it is good for engagement over all and of course rewards follow and in the long run .. leo price will rise!

wow what a great initiative infinite thanks for that, I have seen my comments very favored, and some days that I have time I adore to go and comment that adds value to the platform both I read and hive, fantastic idea, and I appreciate your support in the last days, as There is always information that does not add much value, but there is a post here that is a gem like one that took me yesterday to see an article on Quora, wow that was a relic, since I saw that this site was an update on financial matters, like An auditor that I have been I adore the finances and the stories of WSJ americas, but since I read I entered the scene, stop going there, well, we already have another place to comment.
Thank you for valuing the comments I have always complained that people comment on their post and it is worth it, they do not answer or vote so fantastic idea and well I did not know about it I just came and read and of course if I liked something then I left your respective comment, of course I am not going to change my niche of publications which is foraging and plants, but in this way we can also add value with a good comment.

Great stuff Onealpha, thanks also for all the times you have upvoted stuff I've written. Stake is there to with as one will, you could get your 50% pretty quickly with 10 rapid-fire votes but you choose this instead...hope you enjoy doing it (I get the impression you do). Should get easier with the comment queue system which Khal said is coming.
