I wanted to respond to this statement, but then I started thinking... Is this actually a positive statement, or not? :-)
Kinda hard to say but I think he's talking about life and how's he's leaving with a scar and none would say he lived a simple life.
But honestly I really can't tell unless the author does himself lol...
Indeed, that was my one thought as well, the other was as in "he lived it not just to the fullest, but way more than that!".
I guess only the author knows indeed ;-)
