No idea about the butcher at all, used to say it all the time, never really thought about it until now!
haha you have got me, have you ever listened to the Colour Purple podcast with Susie Dent and Gyles Brandrith or however you spell his name. Would be a great question for them, as they discuss words and phrases in the English dictionary etc
