I really think there will be multiple players in the blockchain sphere as we go onward.
I think there has to be, the competition will drive innovation, something that is needed now.
They are still successfully using a forum system with all it's inherent problems.
There was a basic form on Steem, but the project seemingly died quietly.
While at the moment we are generally a platform, I see Hive as protocol, like the http protocols of the net. It can be built upon in many ways both directly and indirectly as well as leveraged partly (for example just the token layer). platforms could be built on it or individual applications. At its core, it is just a content delivery system and it doesn't much care what kind of content it is. There is a long way to go though.
