Trillions passed sight unseen

How fast can you read 2,520,000 words? If the average person can read say, 250 words a minute, that would take 10,080 minutes, or in hours, 168 hours straight - which is precisely 7 days. 2.52 million words is 5600 pages at 12 font and single-spaced - which is the length of the recent spending bill that was approved, which was approved by the US congress within hours. While the 2.3 trillion dollar spending will fly by the guise of Covid relief, only 900 billion of it is for this purpose - Do you wonder what else is packed in there?

From a brief overview of an article or two, there are things like new Smithsonian museums, gender inequality among statues and tax breaks if you own racehorses. And I think that we can all agree, greater statue gender equality should really help people deal with the fallout from Covid-19 and what is still to come, considering how much money has been printed, yet not distributed widely. Oh of course, most Americans will get a $600 dollar cheque, which should be enough to buy a TV so they can watch the future riots and looting of TVs a year or two from now.

The thing is, many Americans are likely celebrating this passing of the bill that avoided a government shutdown (does this happen in other first-world countries?) and will give them a few pennies in their pocket, while the majority of the "relief" will likely cost them far more in the coming years. the amount of global fiat that has been printed this year is insanity and eventually, the true cost of Covid reactions will be felt - for generations. Remember that even this bill that passed is only a portion of what has been spent, with 7 trillion being spent in the first 6 months, not to mention the costs to small business and individuals as they were laid off, some still so.

With this latest "batch order" of legislations approved without anyone reading the 5600 pages in entirety, since it wasn't even available, let alone with enough time to read it, it goes to show how corrupt the system is - People complain about "blind voting" on Hive through automation, yet this has nothing on the US government. Obviously, the problem with batch voting like this is that everyone is likely to agree to and be benefited by some portion of it, yet other terms and conditions will not be favorable. This means that people will focus on what they win, ignoring the slew of losses.

Bundling trash with treasure is a common practice, like with bundling bad debt with good to increase its rating and attractiveness. The thing is in this case is that many people's trash is a few people's treasure.* I would suspect that a lot of what got pushed through doesn't benefit the average American at all and is just another way to concentrate the wealth into the hands of the minority. It seems to be a game for them to see how far they can push the limits before they are called out on it. After all, it is called the;

Consolidated Appropriations Act

Consolidate
to bring together (separate parts) into a single or unified whole; unite; combine:

Appropriation
the act of appropriating or taking possession of something, often without permission or consent.

Act
the process of doing

Remember that congress voted on this, not the American people. The majority of the money earmarked for distribution will end up in the hands of the "average American" who is likely to own a racehorse. Would the real average American agree to the litany of nonsense that is bundled with their 600 dollars? It is not only an act of doing, it is also an act that it has been passed to bring relief. The relief (if any) is like when after 12 hours of sustained torture, the torturer says, "I will go grab a coffee and be back in 10 minutes"

But, the average American probably would, as like the average person around the world anywhere, we don't know much about the way money works and we have very low visibility on the real creation and flow of it. "Inflation" is a term that most don't really understand, as most think it is because things get more expensive, not that the purchasing power of their fiat unit is decreasing due to increased supply that dilutes value. Things like debt creation through loans increases the inflation rate, as it creates and injects (fractional reserve lending) cash into the market place, increasing demand, which both drives prices up while simultaneously diluting the value of each unit in the money supply.

But, yeah - as long as people are happy with the little bit of cash that many will use to buy from and increase the profits of the people who were probably given tax breaks and incentives in the same "act", all is swell.

I suspect, most of congress will never read what they voted yes on, other than the bits that made them gains.

I dunno. How's Brexit going? :)

It's an incredible fluster cluck, start to finish. They get it all crafted and negotiated and ready to go and the President refuses to sign it because the give away isn't big enough.

Congress wants to keep everybody from bitching and moaning about all the pork that they pushed through on the deal and the President would like to buy a few more folks to back up his 'stole the election' claim. It's just straight brutal.

I don't think it is exactly legal to have a appropriations bill passed without the paper bill before it. I'm sure they legislated a 'one time exemption'.

How's Brexit going?

No idea - I don't pay much attention. :D

I'm sure they legislated a 'one time exemption'.

There are a lot of those this year - like contact tracing and sign-ins for public movement.... How many of those "one-time" exemptions have ever been rolled back?

I don't pay much attention either. But it seems to me that the Brexit negotiations were in the last 24 hours when they were 'solved'. I'm guessing they didn't have the full thing to vote on either.

My point being that it's become common place. To my knowledge none of the one time exemptions have ever been rolled back.

" Here's to the new boss. Same as the old boss."

Politicians unfortunately are not held to any standard at all in America by the American people. They keep voting the same people in year after year.

No one will admit to party line voting, no one votes for the best person because in most cases it is the devil you know verse the one you don't.

To the best of my knowledge there is not one non-hypocritical politician in the Senate or House of Representatives. They have and always will vote one way then the next just to say they voted for or voted against a bill.

I am sure the rest of the world will more than willingly take all the funds being sent to them as our American politicians try to buy their country and people off so they can spread their poison further afield.

No one will admit to party line voting, no one votes for the best person because in most cases it is the devil you know verse the one you don't.

I still believe we shouldn't be voting a "best person" at all, as there is far too much complexity to vote on personality. I believe it will change in the future, but no time soon enough.

I hope the countries that get support, use it to buy bitcoin :D

Cool hearing these thoughts from a non-American, as I share them as well. Sadly, you are correct that a majority of Americans will be happy with this deal and go on living their lives without a second thought. No understanding of inflation, debt, money printing, the fed, QE, hell, simple economics. Top it off, Biden is saying that he’s gonna do even more.

One of many favorite sayings:

”We’re the government and we’re here to help.”

Meekly accepts crutch as leg was just broken. Thanks government.

I have never been to the US (It has never been a high priority on my list) but will have to go one day. I have several close American friends here though, and they say it isn't all bad :)

This will never be taught well enough mainstream, it has to be learned independently through networks.

People need the scraps they are throwing us from their ivory towers. It's easy to be fooled when they can just print money. But as long as we remain the world's reserve currency we can print our way out of trouble. That won't last forever though.

How many countries are going to want to hold US dollars when the governance structure just keeps printing more inflation to cover its own debts? I wonder if there is an alternative reserve candidate....

Not all Americans are celebrating. Two keep reminding people around here how many nations have been paid and continue being paid a percentage of their wage since day 1 of Covid. Americans saw companies like American Airlines (who also own British) and Disney pad their stock.

I think most Americans are thinking the same thing most everyone is thinking. Regardless the colors or geographic location—corrupt and outta control. The fact we're all thinking about it at the same time is exciting.

It's super expensive here, we're anxiously awaiting these gates to reopen so we can live again. But that doesn't mean it's terrible here—plenty of places are worse. Let me show you around a minute, you'll never forget it. Those runnin this joint, like most running the joints I've visited, they're a mess. The people, however, not so messy.

The fact we're all thinking about it at the same time is exciting.

This is indeed one of the bright points, though it is going to come with a massive amount of confusion and disruption. Most people want freedom, but not the responsibility of it.

I live in Northern Europe, so pretty much, the government and the people are all pretty well ordered. It is too cold not to be organized.

Finland's always been on the to-do list. If they'd just open these gates.

Eh, you can probably see the northern lights regularly, correct? Iceland I've always heard is a good spot, seems to me Fin would be equally as good.

Northern lights in my area are rarer, but I see them every year at least once. I am quite south and have a bit of light pollution to contend with. Not far north though, and it is pretty common. I think up past the arctic circle, it is something like 200 days a year - considering that it is very light in the summer up there, it is pretty much guaranteed in the winter.

I saw a post on a different outlet where they broke down some of the terms in the bill. Words like missile and ammunition were mentioned hundreds of times in the bill while the word Covid and Nurse were mentioned less than five times. It was pretty sickening to see read about what they have done. I plan on using my whopping $600 to try and pay down what little debt we have left or maybe invest some in crypto.

I think that while the reports will keep coming out of the shit passed, most people won't see or care - nor will they pay down debt or buy crypto with their "wealth" - most never learn though.

I read that in nanoseconds. Truly I am a God!

Plus a post today - I feel spoiled!

Haha, what a crazy end to the year! :0D

I did not find communism, and the implementation of the very idea of a commune was rather an anti-advertisement of this form of state organization. But when I read such manifestations of democracy, I begin to think what it would be like under a monarchical or communist order of the world ...

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I don't know much about political ideology, but from what I have seen and heard -communism is the most capitalistic of them all. Just think, sold to the masses as wealth sharing, but almost the entire share goes to the government in a monopolistic market.

The old adage at play here; Give them a tip to keep them quiet!

yep, this is pretty much what is going on and most people will not care, as long as they can splurge for a day.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I answered this in the previous reply, but bear in mind that not everyone is poor and some people see splurging on the kids as love!

It's crazy when you think about how shady people in government around the world are. You'd hope that the first world countries would be a lot more discreet with their corruption.

People are so blind and gullible these days, as well as absorbed in their own experience, they don't need to hide it. It makes the news for a day and then is eclipsed the next by a Kardashian ass.

50% of people are below average IQ - but that doesn't make the other 50% intelligent.

I remember the idea of democracy being as good as the dumbest citizen in a country. And living in a country that has never experienced some thing nearly similar to democracy I can tell that the political game is rigged no matter who has the power. Again I keep going back to my first comment in one of your posts, adding now that politics is another Frankenstein's monster that we can even try to control.

So, basically they are throwing some pennies in people's pockets trying to make it look like they are helping and actually stabbing them in the way out. Ha, and I thought the relief things the government gives monthly in this country were a bad thing.

I guess we built a self-sufficient machine that feeds on humanity to keep running. I wonder what will get wasted first, the machine or us. My money is on the latter. But then again, as we continue to venture into the unknown reaches of the future and people keep their sight to themselves, we will see the government pulling up more shenanigans and the general populous not realizing what is happening until it becomes the new normal.

Hey, democracy is great! 🤣

Oh of course, most Americans will get a $600 dollar cheque, which should be enough to buy a TV so they can watch the future riots and looting of TVs a year or two from now.

Depends, everything depends!!

greater statue gender equality
Covid is a mild punishment the evolving stupidity of humankind...

looting of TVs a year or two from now.
There will be no looting, since physical stores will go extinct and you can not loot amazon...

Inflation pales in comparison to the things unseen, unread, unchecked. Corruption causes so much more damage than inflation itself. Since inflation could at least be steady. A steady slope down is beatable if you had accustomed yourself to such conditions. But the unstable conditions and the frequent change of rules is what disrupts most businesses. Somebody (George Gammon) soon said in a resume that all we needed from the government in order for the economy to thrive was a consistent set of rules, meaning the best thing a government could do for the country was take a leave and not return to office for the duration of its mandate. A bit over exaggerated but closer to the truth than what they are currently selling as policy.

Also, different rules for different players, of course. Not de jure but de facto.
