Facebook got slammed this week as it announced earnings and the number of subscribers fell for the first time in company history. On the call, it was stated that TikTok took users away.
In this video I discuss how this is monumental. It is opening the door for others to enter. When the top dog starts to show cracks in the foundation, it is make others aware of the risk.
Web 3.0 offers are great deal of benefits. Obviously, a lot more buildout is required. However, Facebook having issues can only help matters.

I think devs and investors really need to get on the ball here. The wave is about to happen and these applications need to be in place. I really hope Project blank is sooner than later because right now is that time!

I understand what you are saying but we said the same thing last year when the banning took place. And the year before when Trump and others were being silenced.
This is going to take a while to unravel. Facebook will not crash instantly (the price might but I am referring to subscribers).
That said, I agree, we need ProjectBlank yesterday. It will truly be in instant game changer.

Well I am not sure that Hive is a viable alternative to Facebook since that is such a different platform. However, we have the ability to build some things that will really attract users.
Overall, we need to keep pushing things forward so that people realize Hive is at the center of Web 3.0.

We already have https://www.deso.org with a higher marketcap than HIVE while being full of lies. Taking a look at DAPPs there can provide some useful clues to how to best market HIVE and what kind of new DAPPs to develop. So far I believe @buzz to be better than Twitter in terms of features along. I would love to see your post there. Maybe start a @taskmaster4450.shorts account 😎

I think the problem is that it's just not that appealing to the younger crowd. I tend to hear more people talk about posting to TikTok or some other platform. So in a way, they haven't been able to make themselves as relevant. They have stopped innovating to an extent so it has opened the way for new players to enter the market.

It is the better mousetrap. That is one reason why I never invested in Facebook. I thought the old Warren Buffett idea about a most was not present. Of course, I misread that since their ability to kick off a massive network effect was their moat.
However, it looks like it might be starting to be crossed.

I do see lately that my fb friends are not really posting anymore. Once in awhile they even post a message saying they stop fb. I have almost 5000 friends/followers and had to get a business page for others to follow me as there is a limit… But I haven’t been active myself for many months now. Most of last year to be precise. I just don’t see any benefits anymore to fb. My friends/ followers didn’t see my posts anymore because of the algorithm.
When I’m settled here I could pull over the airbrush community… but I need to learn more first and grow. I see a future here, not in other social media like fb.
So far, having lots of fun and I like engaging 😎

It is something common. Many are following what you are doing. Facebook lost it luster for many.
It is good if you can pull people over. The place is a cesspool. Hive has a lot to offer.

I was a teenager when Facebook started and part of what made social media cool at the time was that it was a place for young people to hang out with their peers online and our parents didn't understand it. Today's teenagers have parents who were using Facebook as they were growing up. They probably see it as an old website that their parents would use to upload their school photos to share with their aunts and uncles. TikTok is now the new app that the young people like because their parents aren't there. Instagram started to become that several years ago which is why Facebook bought it.
It is interesting and Facebook did a smart thing: it acquired Instagram.
You are right. Facebook the website turned into mom's and dad's (or grandparents) site. The younger ones turned to Instagram.
Of course, this is overall, so they are losing users overall. I didnt look into the report to see if they stated where it was from.

I think there is a rather solid foundation to build upon already and yeah expanding upon it would be awesome... but once a 'wider-spread' adoption starts happening the snowball effect will make it hard to keep up with on the developer side of things.
In short: I am in favor of slow methodical growth over rapid expansion even though I long for said rapid expansion!
Web 2.0 is already dead... it just has not stopped twitching long enough for us to give it a proper burial.
I think flying under the radar is a good thing. What will happen is slowly, slowly and then an explosion.
Web 2.0 is still alive and well in my opinion. They are doing a ton to try and defend it. Now we are going to have to cut the head off. Once that happened, it will flop around for a while before toppling over.

You are probably more correct on the 'health' status of Web 2.0 but having mostly left it behind a few years ago... I tend to lean towards my assertion on that point. One thing is for sure and that is: I have not missed it!

We are seeing it starting to crack. That means that we should see things progressing in the direction.
The cracks will only keep getting bigger as time passes. Hopefully this becomes a regular earnings report.
