Without a doubt. That is where we are. The wages for workers is so low that collecting unemployment, especially with the Fed money, is more than what their make working. Of course, it also shows how little value the job actually is.
I really don't mind this. I posted a few weeks back in here about Bullshit Jobs. Perhaps we are starting to see the clearing out of all these jobs of low value. Automate them the hell out of existence.
What do we do with all the ex-workers? Well that is a different discussion but at least we arent wasting time trying to fit all these people into stupid jobs.

Yea at some point things will expire or people will get kicked off the lists. When this happens in California, I fully expect a revolt against the politicians here.

Ironic the states that are the most liberal tend to kick people off more than other states.
Florida had issues because their computer system was 35 years old. But once they got that sorted, the system went pretty well.
New York is one of the worst from what I hear.

Yes, but the ex-workers are going to continue burdening the system while sitting on their ass watching TV all day and complaining the government doesn't give them enough. High unemployment benefits are a disincentive to returning to work post-pandemic. What is needed is work incentives, even for the lower paying jobs.
